Workshop Overview

The Wisconsin Forest Resources Education Alliance (WFREA), the LEAF School Forest Program, Dovetail Partners Inc., and the Wisconsin Woodland Leadership Institute are offering a five-day, community-based learning course for K-12 teachers and non-formal educators. The course will focus on forest management in the context of Wisconsin’s social and ecological landscapes.

The workshop will provide information, model activities, and development tools to help educators develop interdisciplinary, standards-based forestry field programs. The course will utilize the LEAF Lesson Guides and exemplify project-based learning practices. It will integrate existing LEAF field lessons from K-8 and introduce a suite of new field lessons developed to complement the 9-12 LEAF lesson guide.

Thanks to funding from the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board (WEEB), a $200 graduate credit stipend, equipment, and resources will be available to each participant.
